The mission of the Rock County Historical Society is to identify, preserve, interpret, and
display the rich history of Rock County. The Luverne Commercial Club first talked of
creating a historical society in 1923, but the organization of the society didn’t occur until
1930 at which point county residents began collecting and preserving artifacts and
archival materials. In 2013 the Herman Motors building in Luverne was purchased and
remodeled to become a suitable home for the museum. The completed building was
dubbed the History Center and now houses most of the collection and the offices of the
historical society at 312 East Main Street.
The Rock County History Center is open year round Monday through Saturday from 10
am to 4 pm.
