The Douglas County Historical Society (DCHS) is an active and evolving historical society located in Alexandria, MN. In July 1987, DCHS began operating out of the historic Knute Nelson House, one of Douglas County's oldest structures. Since the organization's formal re-organization in 1976, the Society has built a robust library of historical and genealogical resources, including more than 10,000 individual family and business files. The DCHS collection also includes an extensive body of photos, scrapbooks, journals, letters, and other artifacts from Douglas County's history.
