Description
This tally was used in measuring grain. It is contained in a wooden case. The case is 5.25" wide, 4.25" high and 8.25 inches long. There has once been a cover because there are two hinges on one end. Inside there are three cogs; a units, tens, and a hundreds. The side has a 5" handle which is used to move the cog. It was manufactured by C.L. Nesmith, Washington Ill. Pat'D Octo. 7. 1873. It is painted blue. The numbers would have appeared in the center of the door.
