Description
Purse: Plumed black velvet coin purse, 4" tall, 4" wide at top, widens to 4 1/2", rounded bottom. The purse is black velvet with large brownish black plumes covering both sides. The plumes are about 11" from top to bottom and 10 1/2" from side to side. On each side in the center of the plumes is a black velvet bow. The handle is black velvet and is 3/8" wide and 4 1/2" tall. The handle connects from one side of the frame over to the back opposite side. The frame is gold and has engraved wavy lines. It closes with a gold double clasp. The inside is lined with black polished cotton.

Creola T. Marquette Pirius Tupa (Mrs. William G. Pirius) is the donor. Creola Marquette Pirius (2/18/1911-2/17/1991) was born in Wilmot, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Edward and Clara Marquette. She married William Pirius. They lived in Red Wing. In 1960, she bought Fitzsimmon's Hat Shop and named it Creola's. She retired in 1985.
