Description
Quilt: Crazy quilt. It is 67 1/4" x 58 1/2". The quit has many kinds of embroidery stitches. There is a black satin 4 1/4" border. In the middle of each side of the border is a different design of an embroidered spray of flowers. One side has purple flowers with green leaves, one side has dark pink flowers with green leaves, the other two sides have white and yellow flowers with green leaves. There is also stitching up each corner and around the edge. There are forty-two 8" squares (7 across and 6 down). Most of the squares are silk and a few are velvet. Some of the squares have paintings on them.

Square 1 has the name Kingman. Square 2 has the name Delano. Square 3 has Clark. Square 5 has M. Mc. Square 6 has a pussywillow and daisies on it. Square 7 has the name Cross and a pansy with beads. It also has a handkerchief. Square 8 has the name Smith painted on it. Square 9 has the name Mate O Brien painted on and a satin fan. Square 10 has the painted name Webster. Square 11 has the initails SD and a painted owl. Square 12 the name Blodgett and butterflies. Square 13 had a pom pom in it and painted flowers and it also has an attached card that says R. T. Sturtevant. Square 14 has a big gold S and a girl says "Go Tell Aunt Tabbie." Square 15 has a boy with the word "brood." Square 16 has a little satin placket, underneath is painted Elsie Sturtevant. Square 17 has embroidered flowers and wheat. Square 18 has a painting of Lou Bevins. Square 19 has the name E. Teele. Square 20 has a horseshoe, and the name ANNA JAMES. Square 21 has the name Childs embroidered. Square 22 has a bird embroidered and a boy with a fishing pole (this piece is fraying), coming out of the bird's mouth is a ribbon and on the ribbon it says S. J. Lowater and 1858-1883. Square 23 has a fan embroidered into it. Square 24 has the letter R embroidered into it and some of the material is fraying in it. Square 25 has a fan embroidered in each corner and one of them has a butterfly embroidered on it, and in the middle is the name E M DENSMORE. Square 26 has a bunch of leaves and flowers embroidered in it. Square 27 has two little girls painted on it. Square 28 has the name McIntyre on it. Square 29 has a pair of maracas of it. Square 30 has the letter S embroidered on it. Square 31 has the name Kellogg and flowers painted on it, and there is a ribbon with the year 1883. Square 32 has a fan on it and a butterfly and painted on it are daisies and the name Florence. Square 33 has two pieces that are fraying. It has roses painted on it and printed on it are the words "Show'rs of Roses Fall Down on You" at right. Square 34 has the name Park embroidered on it. Square 35 is just embroidered. Square 36 is just embroidered. Square 37 has painted on it two owls sitting on a tree, a treble line of music, and it says "should owld acquaintance be forgot?" The name Sheldon is also on that piece, and there is a embroidered spider web and some fraying. Square 38 has a B embroidered on it. Square 39 the name Sherman is painted on it. Square 40 has flowers embroidered on it and some that are just traced on it, the name Nellie is printed on it. Square 41 has fraying pieces and the letter D is embroidered on it. Square 42 has on it Mrs. W M. Sweney and there is a furry little piece of fabric on it.

The back is black, pink, and yellow plaid taffeta. It has a dowel sleeve. The edging is fraying, the back is fraying, and there are worn spots. There are no noticeable stains.
