Description
Jacket: American Legion Post 54 jacket. The jacket is navy blue ribbed cotton blend? It is waist length. The jacket has a notched collar. Each upper collar has a gold "54" pin. Each lapel has an embroidered circle patch of the American Legion emblem (Light brown center with a dark brown star in the center with a circle inside it with "US" and laurel leaves around the star. Around the brown area is a thin yellow border, then a blue border with "American Legion" in yellow, then a yellow jagged border, and a black outer borders. ) There are epaulets with a metal emblem button. The button has a bronze center with a star in the center with a circle inside it with "US" and laurel leaves around the star. Around the bronze area is a thing gold border, then a blue border with "American Legion" in gold, then a gold jagged border, and a gold border. Imprinted on the back of the buttons is "W.B. Co./(star)/PAT. DE. 54296/(star)". There are four large metal emblem buttons on the closure. Imprinted on the back of those buttons is "WATERBURY BUTTON CO./(star)/CONN/(star)". There is a breast pocket on each side with a flat flap and a metal emblem button. The pocket has a pleat. On the upper left shoulder is a patch. It is a large black felt patch with a rounded top and a flat bottom. The embroidered design has a circle on top with the Minnesota state symbol (Farmer plowing and Native American on horse. The colors are yellow, gold, blue, and light blue. In yellow in the sky is "1858". In a brown banner on the top in yellow is "LE TOILE DU NORD". In a brown banner on the bottom in yellow is "1819 1893". There is a brown bow between the dates.). Around the circle is a thin blue line. Around the edge is a gold and yellow jagged edge. Below the circle is a design in the shape of the bottom half of a "1". it is brown and outlined in yellow. in the center is a yellow and black gopher. Going down on the left side in yellow is "GOPHER" and on the right side is "LEGION". Across the bottom is "MINNESOTA". Around the left shoulder is a 3/4" wide white braid and two 1/4" wide white cords. One end of the cords form three loops. There is also another short cord that doesn't go around the shoulder. It has an oblong gold metal tip. The braids and cords attach to the button. The sleeve cuffs have 1/2" gold braid. The waistband is 2 1/8" wide. The left opening at the waist has an extension with two snaps and a black plastic button. The sides have 5 1/2" long black elastic. The top inside of the jacket is lined with black rayon. The seams are covered with black seam tape. There is a hanging loop at the back of the neck. There is a white label on the lower right opening. In blue on the top is "OFFICIAL UNIFORM". In the center is the American Legion emblem in blue and gold. Below in blue is "NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS/DRY CLEAN ONLY". There is a white label on the back center waistband. In black is "MADE EXPRESSLY FOR/MR. Frank Carter (light blue pen)/Red Wing Minn (light blue pen/Date ____/_____". Stamped in gold is a man in a uniform wearing a long coat. Condition - There is a light stain on the left sleeve cuff. MOLD - The jacket had mold. It was laid out to dry and was vacuumed on 1/11/2006.
