Dress, Wedding: Wedding gown of ecru satin. The dress is mid-calf length and has short sleeves. It has a round neckline. The yoke and sleeves are beige net lace with a solid circle pattern. The bottom of the front and back yoke points down and is scalloped. There are five flower buds on the front bottom of the yoke and four on the back (one missing?). The buds are blue and white grosgrain ribbon with green leaves and an orange seed center. There are three small horizontal darts under each arm. There are eight snaps on the left side. The skirt has horizontal panels of 3 1/2" beige lace with a solid circle pattern, 3" satin, 4" lace, 3 3/4" satin, 4 1/2" lace, 4 1/2" satin, 6 1/2" lace. There is a pale pink underslip skirt. The underslip is straight and the skirt is wider. Condition - There are a few small stains on the front bodice. The satin is torn under the right arm. The lace under the arms is torn. The skirt satin is torn. A flower bud is missing.

Worn by Ruth Caroline Bringgold Mondale when she married Clifford Mondale on January 19, 1931 in Pine Island. The dress was bought at Macey's (Massey's?) in Rochester. She was born in 1908 in Milton Township, Dodge County and died in 1993. She graduated from Pine Island High School. After their marriage, they lived in Tracy, MN and Blue Earth, MN before returning to Pine Island in 1943.
