Description
Handmade Doll.
The donor notes: "This fifteen and a half inch high woman doll depicts a Plains Indian. She wears a white buckskin dress to below the knees and white buckskin moccasins, beaded. The dress has a fringe hem and cuffs, while beaded trim the hemline, bodice, down the sleeves and around the cuffs. She wears a beaded belt also. Notice the carved wooden face with the painted features. This is an exact duplicate of a Plains Indian, and with its partner (66.1.291) my most valuable doll. The Sioux are one of the "great plains" Indian tribes. They got their name because they live in the "Plains" states."
