Title
Edwin and Lillian Whitefield
Description
Edwin Whitefield and his wife Lillian, probably taken in Chicago around 1860. Edwin Whitefield was one of the better-known land developers to come to this area. His chief claim to fame lies in the many water colors he painted for use in promoting the sale of Minnesota lands he had claimed. He visited Kandiyohi County (then known as the "Kandiyohi Lakes Country") in 1856 and platted the village of Whitefield. The village did not develop. Whitefield Township is named after him. Lake Lillian is named for his wife.
