In 1930 Minneapolis Directory, occupation is Theatre Organist; living with brother James and widowed Mother Bridget. In 1940 census, is managing a bar in NE Minneapolis, brother James and a widow last name Blixt. Mary E Blixt marries Clarence A Thompson in 1945. He was living in Hopkins in 1942 (WW2 draft registration). Buried at Sunset Memorial Park, Minneapolis.

Mary’s second husband, Clarence Arthur Thompson (29 Jul 1893-20 Jan 1960) died suddenly of an abdominal aneurism. His death certificate lists his occupation as “Owner/Manager Resort” at Tonka Bay, Route 2. Mary was the informant.

Clarence Thompson may be “C.A. Thompson” mentioned on the website https://twincitiesmusichighlights.net/venues/excelsior/ referring to the Tonka Bay Pavilion:

“The ad below indicates that Fink’s Pavilion became the Tonka Bay Pavilion in 1936, and that Percy Villa and Sammy Levine were the new owners.  A subsequent item indicates that it was located 2 1/2 miles from Excelsior.  In 1939 the manager was LeRoy Johnson.  There doesn’t seem to be any indication that it was being used as a dance hall, but there are very few ads in the Minneapolis papers. In 1950 we learn that the owner had been C. A. Thompson, who sold the Pavilion and bought the Jackson Cafe at Jackson’s Corner, Navarre.” This may be from Excelsior’s Waterfront:  The History of the Excelsior Commons and Excelsior Docks, written by Scott D. McGinnis (2008), but the attribution is unclear.

Mary lived another 28 years and passed away, alone, in the Excelsior Health Care Center with a Welfare administrator as her informant. He immediate cause of death respiratory failure and is identified as having dementia, then called organic brain syndrome. Even her parents are not identified on the death certificate. She was 93.
