Description
Ablaze with new lights during the Christmas season is the City of Glenwood. Tribune staff member Gene Applen took this time exposure shot of the city looking west on Minnesota Ave. The picture shows the colorful Christmas lights and the store windows brightly lighted. Shopping activity is at the height right now with stores open Thursday (tonight), Friday and Saturday nights for those shoppers putting the finishing touches on the Christmas list. Stores will also be open until 4 p.m. next Monday, Christmas Eve Day.

In the photo you can see on the right the Webster building, Chimes Cafe, Rogers Hotel, on the left is Knoff Arcade, J. C. Penny's, McCauley building, Thompson building, Ben Franklin and the Minton Hotel. The photo was taken looking west on Minnesota Ave at the corner of First Street North East.
