Born in 1849 at Voss Norway, he graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri and was ordained in 1876. He continued many of the community activities begun by Rev Koefod, and together with his wife Nora (Erickson) who was also an able musician as well as an excellent organizer, fine choirs were established, special programs were arranged with visiting musicians augmenting the local talent. This helped raise the evel of music appreciation and improved markedly the congregational singing. Their nfluence on young people of the community is reflected in the large number who have gone into the Lord's service and other responsible positions. Rev. Nils Forde died in 1917 at the age of 68. During his years of leadership some of the more distant congregations called their own pastors leaving lmmanuel, St. John and Indherred within the parish.
