Glenwood High School band director William Kandaras gives a lesson on the bongo drums. Attentive students are Dorothy Femrite, Lois Kettells, Barbara Potter, Bill Washburn. 

The weekend of April 26-28 was without a doubt the biggest of the year for the G.H.S. musical organizations, both Iarge and small. Three events were packed into the weekend. They included the spring instrumental concert, the Regional-State Music Contest held here and on appearance of the marching band in a parade at Montevideo. In the music contest, attended by 2500 musicians from 49 schools, Glenwood participants received seven Number One ratings out of nine events competed in. Winning top honors were both the band and choir, the saxophone sextet, clarinet quartet, brass sextet, Jim Vegoe alto saxophone solo, and Jim Morton on (tuba solo). Receiving seconds were the trumpet trio and Marilyn Wareberg (soprano solo). The cadet and concert bands performed before a full house at the spring cancer and was very well received. The cadet band deserves special commendation for its superb performance at the event. Of course, there were other events all year long in which the band participated-the Homecoming skit and parade, the fall concert, football and basketball games, and the District Contest.
