Personal papers of William Raymond Skarolid. Skarolid grew up in Jordan and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In the early 1940s he married Margaret Glasier. At some point the family moved to St. Paul and Skarolid worked as a police officer for the St. Paul Police Department. He retired from the force in 1973. This record group consists of the following:
-Report card from St. Luke's Catholic School, 1940.
-Card stating Skarolid had received a passing mark on his patrolman examination, 1948.
-A Notice of Examination for a Detective position, 1954.
-Itinerary for President Dwight D. Eisenhower's visit to St. Paul in October 1956.
-Itinerary for the Danish Delegation's visit to St. Paul along with visits by Governor Freeman, Senator Edward Thye, Mrs. Eugenie Anderson, Senator Hubert Humphrey, Thomas Swain, and William Roll in May 1958.
-Hubert Humphrey detail information for a convention and banquet held in St. Paul in November 1965.
-Letter from the Civil Service Bureau noting Skarolid's rating as a St. Paul city employee, 1968.
-Various correspondence concerning work schedules in 1949, a letter of commendation from the Minneapolis office of the FBI noting excellent work on a case involving the White Slave Traffic act in 1952, a letter stating Skarolid had completed the advanced course of instruction at the Federal Bureau of Narcotics Training School in Washington, DC, in 1958, a letter from Skarolid to the Chief of Police thanking him for assigning him to the Bureau of Narcotics training in 1958, a letter to the Chief of Police concerning Skarolid's involvement in a liquor case in 1962, and letters to the Chief of Police from United States Marshall's thanking him for his officers' assistance during Subversive Activities Hearings in 1964.
