Records related to the Shakopee Rotary Club. Rotary Club International is "a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical stands in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world." Rotary was founded in 1905 by Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer. He gathered a group of businesspeople to rotate meeting locations among the members' offices and rotate the chairman of each meeting, hence the name "Rotary." The group also sponsors foreign exchange students and provides scholarships. The Shakopee Rotary Club was chartered in March of 1955. The club meets every Tuesday.
