Description
United States Army uniform belt issued to Joseph P. Lehnen of Marystown during World War I. The belt was most likely worn during combat and was used to carry supplies. It is made of green canvas. One end of the canvas is curled over and stitched to form a loop. Resting inside the loop is a metal eye. The opposite end of the canvas is edged in metal and has a hook for attaching to the eye. Running the length of the belt and spaced out approximately every 2.25" are rows of gromets. Seen with the gromets are snaps for attaching additional items to the belt. Handwritten in black marker near one end of the belt is "US." Maker's marks stamped into backside of snaps but is illegible.
