Description
Grade school diploma issued to Leo Hartmann of Shakopee by St. Mark's School. The diploma is tan cardstock printed and handwritten in black. It shows an illustration of rolled paper with a bow. Printed in an arc across the top of the piece is "Parochial School Diploma". Below the text is an illustration showing an intertwined cross and crown with olive branches. They are inside what appears to be a crystal ball. The ball is flanked by branches with oak leaves. Below the branches is text that reads "This Certifies That/Leo L. Hartmann has honorably completed the Course of Study prescribed for Saint Mark's Parochial School and is therefore entitled to this Certificate/In Witness Whereof, our signatures are hereunto affixed at Shakopee, Minnesota, this 14th day of June 1921." The diploma is signed by an unknown individual and by Sister M. Ignatia. A gold foil stamp with short red, white, and blue ribbons is affixed to the facing bottom left corner. Embossed on the stamp is "Ecclesia St. Marci, Shakopee, Minn." Handwritten on the backside of the piece is "Leo Hartmann". No maker's marks.
