Description
Wooden plaque commemorating the second inauguration of President Richard Nixon. There is a photo on the plack which shows Nixon on the balcony of the east portico taking the oath of office administered by Chief Justice Warren Burger. There is a Bible laying open on the wooden inaugural stand and Nixon's left hand is resting on it while his right hand is raised ear level. Nixon's wife Pat stands behind the inaugural stand between the two men and hundreds of people crowd the balcony and watch the ceremony taking place in front of them. The plaque also has two brass plates held in place by small brass screws. The smaller brass plate above the photo reads, "source of the wood for this memento the Presidential Inaugural Stand at the Capitol. Photographed and produced by Ed Streeky." The larger plate below the photo reads, "The Second Inauguration of President Richard M. Nixon January 20, 1973 Peacemaker."
