Description
2008.5.431A- Bronze commemorative coin from the former USSR. The coin has a city scape image of moscow with a large naval ship on the river coming in from the right hand side. The top of the coin has a cyrillic inscription which translates to, "Leningrad Hero City." The bottom has a hammer and sickle flanked by olive branches on one side and oak branches on the other. The reverse side has an image of Lenin's statue in St. Petersburg. Below the statue are flags billowing in the wind. In the background is a large neoclassical building and some industrial smoke stacks.
2008.005.431B- wooden case to house and protect the russian bronze commemorative coin. Both the base and lid are cut at a 45 degree angle on the back edge and have a thin cloth inserted in a notch to act as a hinge. There is a white office label on the top of the lid with a hand written inscription which reads, "Foreign Trade Bank Ivanov 11-24-71". There is also a yellow dot sticker on the lid which reads "# 83 case 9B".
