Description

Ledger book kept by Scott County to track assessments paid by electrical/power companies between 1948-1996. The book has hard black book cloth covers reinforced with red leather at the corners and spine and bound paper pages. Stamped in gold on the spine is "Power Assessments/Scott County". Printed in red, blue and black on each page are the tax year and assessment amount; a grid for tracking the company assessed, their address, amount of assessed value, average county tax rate, tax amount, payment date, receipt number, amount paid, penalties, and remarks; and witness statements for the County Auditor and County Treasurer. Ledger tracks payments received by Interstate Power Company of Dubuque, IA, Northern States Power Company (NSP) of Minneapolis, and the Cooperative Power Association of Minneapolis. Book plate with maker's marks adhered to the inside front cover. Some loose sheets of paper throughout.
