Description

Scott County Treasurer's Cash Balance ledger book used between June 1957 and December 1981. The book has hard green book cloth covers reinforced with red leather at the corners and spine and bound paper pages. Stamped in gold on the spine is "Treasurers Daily Cash Balance Book/Scott County". Each page is pre-printed in red, blue and black with grids for tracking monetary transactions. Handwritten entries note the date (entries were make weekly); amounts for receipts and payments; bank names; bank balances; amounts deposited and withdrawn; amount of cash on hand; and grand total dollar amounts. A few loose papers, mainly receipts and calculator registers, are found throughout the ledger. Banking institutions associated with the county include the First National Bank of Shakopee, the State Bank of New Prague, the State Bank of Belle Plaine, the First State Bank of New Market, Northwestern State Bank of Jordan, the Prior Lake State Bank, and the Savage State Bank. A yellow paper bookplate printed in black with maker's marks is adhered to the inside back cover.
