Description

Customer ledger kept by Henry Heitkamp for his blacksmith and wagon shop located on Water Street in Jordan. The ledger has hard tan book cloth covers reinforced at the corners with maroon colored leather and bound paper pages. Handwritten in black ink on the front cover is "H. F. Heitkamp/1894". The first section of the book contains alphabetized tabs for tracking the shop's customers. The middle section is pre-printed in red and blue with grids and page numbers. Handwritten entries list the customer's name, date, amount charged by customer, amount paid by customer, and any remaining balances owed. The last section contains individual balance sheets for each customer by year. No maker's marks.
