Description
The Handy Day-Book ledger used by Kohls & Berens of Shakopee. The ledger has hard tan book cloth covers reinforced with maroon colored leather and the corners and black leather at the spine. Stamped in black on the front cover is an illustration of a hand with the text "The Handy Day-Book". Stamped in gold on the spine is "Day-Book". The ledger has bound paper pages printed in red and blue with lines, columns, and page numbers. Handwritten entries include the date, customer's name, items purchased, prices, credits, and payments. Goods purchased include clothing, fabrics, housewares, food, matches, oil, dishes, and so on. Printed on the inside covers are postal rates, notes about business law, money orders, weights and measures, U.S. time zones, exchange rates, salaries for federal government workers and military officers, and so on. Adhered to the fore edge of the inside back cover is a metal pencil holder. Maker's marks are printed on the title page.Geographic Notes
