Description

Register of Daily Payments ledger kept by Scott County between 1881-1888. The book has hard black book cloth covers reinforced with maroon colored leather at the corners and spine. Stamped in gold on the spine is "Daily Payments/Scott County". The bound paper pages are printed in red and blue with lines, columns, and page numbers. Printed in black across the top of every page are "Daily Register of Payments" and column headings. Handwritten entries track the date, order or warrant number, county revenue, country poor, county road and bridge, town payments, school payments, a short description, miscellaneous, and total daily payments. Descriptions include payments to schools, money related to textbooks, money related to the county's townships, etc. A bookplate with maker's marks is adhered to the inside front cover.
