Description

Sheriff's foreclosure sales ledger used by the Scott County Sheriff's Department. The book has brown leather covers reinforced with maroon colored leather at the corners and spine. Stamped in gold on the spine is "Sheriff's Mortgage Foreclosure Record/C/Scott County" along with maker's marks. The bound paper pages are printed in red and blue with lines, columns and page numbers. Printed in black across the facing top edge of each page is "Sheriff's Mortgage Foreclosure Record". The first section of the ledger consists of an alphabetized tabbed index (unused). The remaining pages track the printed notice of a sale, the seller, the buyer, the attorneys, date of sale, amount, interest rate, place the notice was published, date of notice, date of affidavit, sheriff's fee, and so on. Various mortgage papers, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and other papers are found throughout the book. No maker's marks.
