Description
A) The balalaika is made of wood and has black wood inlay for the rosette and in the corners. The metal frets are inserted into the wooden neck. The pick guard is black wood that is affixed to the top of the sound board. The tuning pegs on the headstock are made of white plastic. There are five ribs on the back of the balalaika separating six distinct sides. The balalaika was a gift to Maurice Stans from Nikolai Patolichev, the Minister of Foreign Trade for Russia.
B) A pamphlet with instructions for care was included with the instrument. The cover of the book simply says "Balalaika" at the bottom in white letters over a field of blue. There is also a blue balalaika printed on the front over an orange background with abstract plant and animal figures.
C) The instrument and the pamphlet are kept inside of a soft case made of black cloth which was made to conform to the shape of the balalaika.
