Description
Soapstone sculpture collected by Maurice Stans during his trip to Alaska in 1971. The sculpture is of a seal. Facial features such as eyes, mouth, nose and whiskers are carved into the face then rubbed with an off white paint to contrast against the green stone. The name Luke is etched into the bottom of the sculpture. There is a yellow business card taped on the bottom of the seal which reads, "An Original Eskimo Soapstone Sculpture/ Indian Arts & Crafts/ Anchorage Alaska/ Seattle Washington."
