Description
Gold coin given to Maurice Stans in Taiwan (A). The obverse features a portrait of Chiang Kai-shek. The reverse features two cranes standing on a rock surrounded by peonies. The value of the coin, 2,000 yuan, is written in chinese characters below the cranes. The coin was minted to commemorate the 80th birthday of Chiang Kai-shek. The coin is stored in a hinged case (B). The case is covered in burgundy vinyl. The interior is lined in burgundy velvet. There is also a hinged insert inside the case which has a recess to hold the coin in place. The insert pops up when the lid is opened. There is a white office label adhered to the top of the lid with a typed inscription which reads, "Gift of Wei Tao-ming Minister of Foreign Affairs, Taiwan."
