Description
Grain butt adjuster. A long canvas strip with 9 pieces of wood attached at regular intervals. There are leather straps on one end and buckles on the other. There are also button holes on one end to attach it to another object.
Attached note reads: "Peter Pennie Children Collection - 1865 - This butt-er was used by Peter on and early day binder. It squared the butt ends of the bundles. Donated to the Pope County Historical Society by a daughter - Mrs. Robert Ballentine (Hattie Pennie) on October 4, 1984."
