Description
Original artwork by Ronald Senungetuk. "Seal / Puatuzula (Fourth of July 2008)" Constructed of Silver maple boards engraved with concentric circles. Framed in a black metal frame. The concentric circles represent a seal coming up through a hole in the ice. The center circle is blue, then red, then blue, then red, then blue again on a natural silver maple background. There are little eyes carven into the outer red circle.
This piece was given by the artist when he was the speaker at the 2008 PCHS annual meeting 9/20/08. His very early work is represented in the Cleora Helbing collection of Indian Arts and Crafts. He was a student at Mt. Edgecombe High School in Sitka Alaska in 1950.
