Description
Hanging string holder. This spherical cast-iron container was used on the New Prairie Store. Holders like this were used in stores to dispense string for wrapping packages. The container opens at the center with a little hinge and closes with an iron latch. The loop at the top allows for hanging in a convenient place. The bass of sting would sit inside the holder and the end of the string was fed through a hole in the bottom.
