Description
Sign. Sheet metal painted yellow with the words: "P & O light draft Plows / Norling & Wollan Co. Glenwood / Farm Equipment and Supplies" in black and red letters. For display purposes, it has been mounted on 4 rough boards. Norling & Wollan was owned by N.P.(Nels) Norling and C. O. Wollan. It was started in May 1911 and was closed in March of 1917. The Company was the location of the Glenwood Creamery, and then Minnewaska Meats. N.P. Norling was a Professor of commercial and business at Glenwood Academy before going into business with C.O Wollan. C.O. Wollan was the Secretary of the Fremad Asscio. and Secretary of the Firemen board. N.P. Norling was a cashier at Forada bank. C.O. Wollan won some land in North Dakota. In 1934 N.P. Norling was an owner of a business in Wisconsin and C.O. Wollan was a partner in the Midwest Coffee and Drug store operation with Hugh Stinson. Parlin & Orendorff Company or P&O was stationed in Illinois. It manufactured plows for 1860-1919 then it changed hands to the International Harvest Company, yet was sold under the P&O plow company name. The P&O light draft plows were built in this time period, called this for they were called the "diamond of all plows" for they were the 1st made of full steel.
