Description
Bronze colored coin with covered wagon and oxen and a native american walking away on the back with the words 100th Anniversary. The front reads Morris Area Centennial 1871 1971 Minnesota with illustrations of the state flower, the Lady Slipper, an oil lamp and a railroad track.

Never used. This coin was buried in the time capsule and unearthed in July 2001. Dan Schivone organized packet that went into the capsule. He worked for the former Welfare Office, Stevens County.

There is also a letter from Governor Wendell R. Anderson referring to the coin. 2001.57.15

Coins were printed in Bronze - $20.00, Silver - $50.00, and Gold - $100.00. The Gold coins were numbered on the edge. Sheridan Halbe has #39.
