Description
Ax / Axe - double bit, with oaken handle, much worn bit. The handle is 30 inches long and shaped for insertion into the axe head. It is enlarged at the other end for hand grip. It is two edged, steel, sharp and heavy. One side is shorter than the other. "This was a pioneer and early settler tool. When the winter came, men took to the woods for clearing the land, felling trees for firewood, posts and barns. The Ax was a necessity." - Subject card.
