Akona Chemical Corporation newspaper advertisement from the Minneapolis Sunday Tribune, March 18, 1956. Advertisement is printed in black and yellow, and reads "Your House Is Bigger Than You Think!" at the top. It advertises Akona's sealer paint as a way to "transform you damp, dreary basement into a dry, cheerful room" in a variety of colors. Ad lists other product details, and indicates that Akona products can be purchased at various Warner Hardware stores in Minnesota. 
The advertisement includes three images. The lower right image was taken in the Blewett family home's basement in Anoka; Patricial Dowdell is seated at the round table on the far left, and her sister Carol Dowdell is next to her (second from left). The round image in the middle shows their mother, Alta Mae Dowdell, painting a cinder block wall with yellow Akona paint.
