Description

This Model T automobile, owned by VP Hubert H. Humphrey, is painted black with black leather seats that are upholstered with vertical stitching. The top roof of the car is made of leather and the car roof does lower to make the car a convertible. At the back of the car, the convertible top has a plastic window sewn into the flexiblee material. Near the back of the car, along each side, is a metal bracket, padded, for tying down the convertible top. Each bracket has a leather strap with a buckle for securing the top. The four wheels each have 12 wooden spokes, a metal rim, and rubber tires. The front of the car has 2 headlights, each 9 inches in diameter. At the lower fron of the car is a silver colored crank. The crank is tied to a piece of the frame with a long leather strap. There is only one tail light, 3 inches in diameter, on the left side of the car. There is a license plate in the front and the back of the car, each reading A26 204-735 Minn. Each side of the car has two doors, front and back, and the door handles are on the inside. Along each side, there is a 10 inch running board. Attached to the running boards are 4 heavy silver colored metal stepping plates for the front and back. The hood is hinged near the top and again halfway down. The hood is also vented and has a handle on both sides for access to the engine. At the top of the hood, near the windshield is a rectanular door the allows access to the gas tank. The windshield is made of glass. Inside is a hand-operated windshield wiper for the driver's side only. At the center is a small rearview mirror. There is a starter key mounted at the center of the dashboard. The steering wheel is 17 inches across and made of hard plastic. Along the steering column are 2 other levers, one for the throttle and one for the spark. On the driver's side floor is a clutch, a brake, a reverse pedal, and a hand brake. At the back of the car is a spare tire...no wheel. There is a light brown leather cover on the spare tire.
