Description

Paymaster Check Writer and protector used in the Pope County Courthouse. The original cost of the machine was $92.50. Made by American Check Writer Company.
This is a model Y SN 312269. The case is metal, painted to look like wood. To use it, the check is slid into a slot near the bottom of the machine and the keys are moved to the right numbers to reflect the amount of the check. When the handle is pulled, the check is physically imprinted with the amount the paper is embossed and printed at the same time.
