Description
Black-and-white lithographic print by Rosa Bonhuer entitled "The Horse Fair. Wood frame, paper backing, wire hanger. Print shows group of men and horses with crowd shown in background.
Print accompanied by two notes:
"The Horse Fair by Rosa Bonhuer, 1822-1899. This famous work was purchased in 1863 by Charles Vanderbilt and is now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Rosa Bonhuer was born in Fontainebleu, France and was trained by her father. At 19 years of age she showed her first painting at the annual Paris Exhibition (called the Salon), where she exhibited annually until 1855."
"This picture was given to the Wright County Historical Society for the Country School House at the County Fair Grounds by Harold Gridley of Rockford, Minnesota, July 8, 1972."
