Description
Brass paper knife; handle from shell cartridge; blade has large deep teeth and a scroll at top and bottom by the handle; edge of blade is engraved with a zig-zag line; “KULTUR-BOCHE” engraved on blade, refers to Germans as “Culture Butchers” during the First World War. Note on typed card from Memorial Room: "No. 161. Brass Paper Knife In the form of a German saw-edged Bayonet, made by a soldier abroad from scraps of shell cases. Stevens County War Records Coll." Part of the original War Memorial Room collection (WRCC).
