Description
Wooden black painted frame with glass front, masonite backing and wire hanger. Accompanying written information states that the frame originally held an 1827 sampler stitched by a 10-year-old girl named Helen M. Tilford from a town called Caldwell, possibly in Connecticut. Donated to the Buffalo Historical Society in 1984, the sampler was reported missing in October 1986. The frame was found in a museum closet after someone had removed it from a wall and took the sampler.
