Description
Check writer. Manual check writing machine that belonged to Mary Jean's father, Al Kamlah, who used it in his business - Builder's Lumber, Al came to Glenwood in 1938 and died in 1982. The paper is fed through the machine and each number or word is selected by sliding the arrow to the correct number of word. When the crank is turned, that word or number is printed on the paper. A copy of an ad for the machine is in the documentation binder. It was made by the Todd Protectograph Company of Rochester, NY. "Protectograph checkwriter" Serial number 856966. There is an ad in the accession binder attached to the acquisition paperwork.
