Description
In the Second Sino-Japanese War prior to World War II, foreign volunteer pilots of the Flying Tigers carried notices printed in Chinese that informed the locals that this foreign pilot was fighting for China and they were obliged to help him.These identification flags or Blood Chits were often worn on the back of jackets by American aviators. Written in Chinese characters, the message translates roughly as “This foreign person has come to China to help in the war effort. Soldiers and civilians, one and all, should rescue, protect and provide him medical care.” Printed on silk and also bears an official stamp. Dates from World War II.
