Description
Brown silk wedding dress, short, no veil/train. Skirt is pleated in the front, but not the back. A 6.75" band is sewn in front at/slightly below the waist. The band is made from the same fabric as the rest of the dress. It is coming undone at the seam on the left side of the dress. There is an ornamental 'tail' attached to this band, on the left side where the stitching is coming undone it extends 18.25" inches.
A 2" inch thick collar is sewn in the front, extending down to 3.5 inches above the waist. It is rounded on the edges, with a v-neck cut opening to a beaded insect (bee?) pattern sewn onto a slip. Insect is made from clear class large seed beads and white crème colored beads (pearl?). There appears to be a strand of the white beads missing from the left wing on the pattern, and a single bead missing from the left antennae.
Slip is tan in color, very thin, fragile, and frayed/stained/discolored, it is not made from the same silk fabric the rest of the dress is made with. The slip is sewn into the dress at the shoulders, and only runs to the waist/stops. The silk fabric has been brought in/gathered at the shoulders of the dress.
Sleeves of the dress are full length with a 1" hem at the wrist, and a single metal snap at each wrist. Both snaps are fully functional. Silk is in good condition, no shattering effect is noticed, though some of the seams are frayed/coming undone. On the back of the dress there is an area of grey discolored specks near the left shoulder of the dress. On the left shoulder is and ornamental sash or piece of fabric that is almost completely detached from the shoulder. There is evidence of sewing/gathering on the sash but it's purpose/where it was attached is unclear.
