Description
Black wool hand crocheted mourning bonnet. Ruffle on the bottom of the bonnet is triple crochet stitch which falls at neckline. Three heavier ruffles around the face opening. The main part of the hat is crocheted in a bubble-like pattern. Black ribbon is woven through the head piece, ribbon woven through the neck line which comes out in front to be tied around the chin as a strap. On the crest of the bonnet, the crochet forms flower-like edges, finished and sewn with black thread in Y stitch & black ribbon through the flower. Inside of the bonnet is finished with hand-woven brown maroon wool material.
