Description
Blue Air Force colonel's uniform jacket. Jacket buttons down with four eagle crest buttons. The two breast pockets are pleated and close with eagle crest buttons. The two lower pockets are flat and close with the eagle crest buttons. Short, notched lapels, that are 2.5'" at their widest part. A silver "U.S." pin is attached to the upper notch of each lapel. Each shoulder has an epaulet flap that closes with a eagle crest button. The Colonel rank insignia pin (silver eagle holding an olive branch) sits at the point of each shoulder. Each sleeve has a .5" dark blue grosgrain ribbon (or leadership stripe) about 3" above the end of the sleeve. A 9" slit runs up the middle bottom of the jacket in the back.
Above the left breast pocket is the Senior Navigator insignia pin (wings on either side of a crest with a star above. The crest has a staff with lightening bolts around it). Below the pin is the Distinguished Flying Cross medal. Twelve more medals are pinned below that. See accession from for more information on the medals.
Black braided hanging loop attached to the inside of the collar. The inside of the jacket is partially lined with satin, and there is quilted stitching on each breast, above the breast pockets. Black tag on the inside right breast pocket reads "DULUTH, MINN. / BUSSA'S/ QUALITY CLOTHES". Directly under the tag is a breast pocket with a name tag stitched inside with blank lines for "NAME" "RANK" "SERIAL #"and "ORG." The tag on the inside of the left inner breast pocket reads "USAF CERT. NO. CTN 1-2-67/ A SAMPLE OF THIS ITEM HAS BEEN/ INSPECTED AND MEETS OR EXCEEDS/ THE QUALITY PERSCRIBED BY AF/ SPEC. NO. MIL-C-27438C & EXC. THE/ MANUFACTURER CERTIFIES THAT/ THIS ITEM MEETS THE QUALITY OF/ THE SAMPLE APPROVED BY THE USAF."
