Description
Arrowheads. 22 arrowheads are displayed in a wooden, black framed box with green fabric backing. The arrowheads are held on with copper wire. They range in size from, 1 - 4" The box is screwed into a display stand. In 2015, Archaeologists from the Minnesota Historical Society visited our museum and identified several of the pieces in our collection. They said that the large spearpoints are not from this area.

The points in this case are Middle to Late Archaic forms. They probably date from about 4500-2000 years ago (2500 BC – AD 1). All of the items on the bottom row are bifacially flaked artifacts, meaning they were flaked on both sides (faces) and may have been used as cutting implements. They may or may not have been hafted. It is also possible that they were intended as ‘blanks’, that is, reduced to a convenient size for transport and to be further worked or flaked when the need arose to fashion them into a more appropriate shape for use.
