Title
Flora Ruffcorn Wedding DressCreation Date
1919Description
Wedding dress worn by Flora May Ruffcorn on June 14, 1919 when she married Walter Scott Barott. The dress was handmade by Flora, of white, soft gauze like fabric. It was calf length, with a back closure of snaps, and had a set-in waist band, large square collar trimmed in lace, and small silver beads. There are also lace and bead trim at cuffs, and snap closures (cut steel beadwork). The dress is in two pieces and has a rectangular overlay with "V" neck opening, and there is a plain sash (poor condition). Flora made this dress while she waited for Walter Barott to return from WWI. They were married at her family home in Linwood when he returned, he in his uniform and she in the wedding dress she made.
