Description
Goggles for World War I gas mask. Used by Herman F. Engebretson from Lowry when he served in France in WWI. The goggles have their own carrying case. The goggles are part of a leather piece that fits over the wearer's head. It is 6.5 x 10". The hose is in a separate case. The rubber seal around the goggles has melted and it is no longer possible to open the leather. The case is made from canvas or oilcloth, and shaped to fit the goggles & holder, is 8 x 10.5" and has a 46" strap. The eyepieces of the goggles are perfectly round.
