Description
Button / pin that reads "Turn on the Lights at Glenwood" 1.5" diameter. It is white with blue lettering. It was made by the Midwest Badge and Novelty Company.
The "Turn On The Lights at Glenwood" buttons were a fundraiser and opening game ticket to the June 14, 1949 opening of the James E. Barsness Baseball Field. This was essentially where the totem pole stands today beside the museum.
A May 5, 1949 Glenwood Herald story reads in part: "Buttons are appearing in Glenwood with the words, "Turn on the Lights at Glenwood" on them. One of these buttons will admit the bearer to the first night game. Three thousand have been ordered and it is expected that they will be disposed of to baseball fans."
