Description
Blue and white gingham apron; machine sewn with seams and hems bound by hand; a wide band of cross stitched embroidery in white on hem; one pocket on right side; apron gathered to a .88 in. wide waistband; waistband is sewn to 3 in. wide ties; right tie is ca. 27.5 in. long, left tie is ca. 27.25 in. long. Belonged to Bridget Diamond Conroy (Mrs. Patrick). Bridget lived near Clontarf in Swift County from 1871 until 1887, when the family moved to a farm south of Chokio. Bridget and Patrick retired to Morris in 1923. A note written by Bridget’s daughter, Rose Conroy Barry, reads “Apron over 100 years old. Gift of Catherine Casey of Clontarf to Bridget Conroy[.]” The note may refer to this apron or to 90.44.5. Scattered stains.
